Oils are used for Greeva Basti as per the instructions of the doctor such as Ashwagandha, Sahacharadi, Shirwala, Mahanarayan, Sesame oil, etc. First of all, the person suffering from neck pain is made to lie on the therapy table on his stomach. A box-shaped mold of the kneaded dough is made and glued around the painful area.
Then, after heating the oil containing the medicine in this mold, it is slowly poured with the help of cotton in the form of a torrent. After the oil cools down, the process is repeated by heating it again, in the same way, this process is done for 30 to 45 minutes. Finally, the oil and flour are removed thoroughly and the patient’s neck is lightly massaged with warm oil.
Along with this, the patient is also advised to sit in the correct posture during work, not to use pillows while sleeping, diet, and exercise as per the directions of the doctor. The cervical Basti procedure is considered a safe procedure, it does not harm the patient in any way, but still, hot oil can cause skin redness or itching in patients with sensitive skin.
If there is already a wound or cut at the site of the procedure, then there may also be a burning sensation from the hot oil.
