What is Leukemia Disease

Leukemia is a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow. Your bone marrow produces blood cells, and in leukemia, some of those cells turn into abnormal leukocytes or white blood cells. These cancerous cells don’t function like normal white blood cells, making it harder for your body to fight infections. There are several different types of leukemia, but the two main categories are chronic and acute forms. Chronic leukemia grows slowly, while acute forms develop quickly and require immediate treatment.

Type of Leukemia Disease

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)

CLL is a type of cancer that occurs when there is an abnormal increase in the number of white blood cells called "B-lymphocytes" in our body.

Acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL)

Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, commonly known as ALL, is a type of blood cancer that starts from white blood cells (lymphocytes) in the bone marrow.

Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML)

Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) is a type of blood cancer that affects the bone marrow and blood cells.

Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML)

Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is a rare type of cancer that starts in the bone marrow, where blood cells originate. It is caused by a genetic abnormality that leads to an overproduction of white blood cells called myeloid cells.

Genetic disorders

Genetic disorders in cancer refer to changes or mutations that occur in a person's DNA, which can lead to the uncontrolled growth of cells and the development of tumors.
