The word ‘virechnam’ is a verbal noun and is formed from root rica with vias the prefiix and lyut as suffix. This means that the suffix is applied both in the sense of karana and adhikarana i.e. the instrumental and locative cases.
- In the process of virechnam , toxic feces are removed from the intestines.
- Sitting the patient on the therapy table, apply sandalwood vaccine on the forehead.
- Lubricates the patient’s head and gives Marma points.
- In virechana karma, the patient is first lubricated and sudden.
- In virechana karma and according to the sattva, the patient is given an increasing amount of Snehapana in the morning for 3 to 7 days respectively.
- Lubrication Swedana is done for 3 days.
- Virechana dravya is given to the patient in the morning on an empty stomach.
- After half to 1 hour, the patient starts getting virechana.
- During virechana, the patient’s BP is checked from time to time so that the patient’s condition can be fully observed. Thus the process of virechana is completed.
